ReStory demo guide: features and PC requirements

The official demo page describes ReStory as a narrative shop-management game set in mid-2000s Tokyo. You accept devices, repair and clean them, replace faulty parts, reassemble them and handle the business around each job. The device list is inspired by consoles, handhelds, phones, cameras, music players and home appliances, including officially licensed Atari consoles.

The demo also presents the wider management loop: greeting customers, taking in repair orders, managing finances and using a Y2K-style web browser to buy spare parts. Customer dialogue includes choices that can affect branching stories and endings.

The official page does not state a fixed demo length. Completion time will vary with reading, inspection and repair speed, so unsupported “X-hour demo” claims should be treated as estimates.

Minimum PC requirements

The full-game page also names DirectX 11. Keep more than the listed 1 GB free because Steam needs working space for download, unpacking and updates.

First-session compatibility checklist

1. Start at the display resolution you expect to use in the full game.
2. Check text size in dialogue, part descriptions and the in-game web browser.
3. Complete one disassembly, cleaning, replacement and reassembly sequence.
4. Watch performance while manipulating parts, not only in the shop overview.
5. Save, exit and resume if the demo exposes those controls.
6. Check the correct language before beginning a story branch.

A smooth demo run is useful evidence for the same Windows PC, but later scenes and release patches can have different performance characteristics.

Input and Steam Deck status

The checked demo page does not list full or partial controller support. Do not assume a controller is officially supported because the interface looks gamepad-friendly or a community user reports that one model worked. This guide therefore leaves controller support unconfirmed rather than treating missing store metadata as evidence that controllers cannot work.

No official Steam Deck rating was confirmed. Testing the demo through Proton can provide personal evidence, but it does not replace Valve’s Verified or Playable assessment.

Demo languages

Steam lists English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese for the demo. Spanish is marked for full audio in the checked listing. The full game additionally lists Korean, so do not assume that every full-game language is present in the demo.

What remains unconfirmed

• Save transfer from demo to full game;
• official controller support;
• a Steam Deck compatibility rating;
• fixed demo completion time;
• whether every demo language and setting remains identical at launch.
