August 21, 2026 — patch 1.0.013r
The official patch post adds five save slots. Named fixes include story blockers with bought licenses and main-questline orders, items lost in the sonic bath, serious memory leaks, and the game should now work on old Intel Macs. It also names Asian fonts, gamepad tooltips, the dialogue selector on gamepad, a rebalanced marketplace, firmware-update mechanics on gamepad, the ding completion sound and other audio, competitions IDB Thinkerdad and XI-Box, a client arriving just before 00:00, duplicated tutorials, inventory sorting, bugs on Atari Lynx, Blueberry Curl and Nony GoMan, soldering, and the new-game confirmation dialogue. Unlisted items stay unconfirmed.
August 20, 2026 — first free content update September 14
The official post dates the first free content update to September 14: more story, a new character, and a brand-new gadget. A longer roadmap is promised for the same day. The post also opens an official community survey; this page does not invent survey results.
August 19, 2026 — patch 1.0.011r
Named changes include a button that places all gadget items into inventory, sonic-bath cleaning counting toward an achievement, painting-palettes UI, parts that cannot be cleaned, a Brick Game quest item, the Jack of all trades achievement, Atari Lynx competitions, new SFX, and 3D-asset optimization. Unlisted items stay unconfirmed.
Current status as of August 20, 2026
Official Steam Community RSS still had no post newer than 1.0.010r (August 13) at this check.
The August 20 US appdetails recheck still listed $19.99 / $17.99 (-10%). The live store HTML
no longer showed the Offer ends August 20 banner that was visible on August 17, and this page
did not invent a new end date. Average playtime and the release world map were still unpublished.
Current status as of August 17, 2026
Official Steam Community posts after launch, missed in the August 16 store-only recheck, now sit above the pre-launch timeline. The newest numbered game build named in those posts is 1.0.010r (August 13). The live US store still listed $19.99 / $17.99 (-10%); the introductory-offer banner on August 17 read Offer ends August 20 (older pages on this site had August 21). Average playtime and the release world map are still unpublished.
August 13, 2026 — 300,000 copies, OST, artbook, patch 1.0.010r
The official thank-you post says more than 300,000 copies were sold in the first week. It also released the Official Soundtrack (10 tracks in clean and in-game radio-filter versions, described as royalty-free for streamers) and expanded the digital artbook from 20 to 45 pages. The game, OST and artbook are sold together as the Supporter Edition complete-the-set bundle. The same post says a first free content update with a new gadget is in the works, plus a longer roadmap, collabs and DLCs, but it does not give dates.
Update #2 (1.0.010r) is live. Named fixes are a long-save issue that could crash on save, a blocker with missing screws in a device, and a minor Robby wiring bug. Unlisted items stay unconfirmed.
August 11, 2026 — first update 1.0.009r
The first numbered patch names early unlocks for the How Did I Do It and Frugal achievements, a Platinum partner achievement fix, firmware-update bugs on Guitar Legend and MyPod, inventory use in competition mode, an IDM device disassembly error, a mail-tab new-mail indicator, ultrawide disassembly layout, gadgets stuck in the sonic bath, and Eggotchi / Goman / Brick Game bugs. The same post says community Steam background items were outsourced and will be handled separately from the game; that is not a gameplay patch claim.
August 7, 2026 — 100,000 copies in one day
An official post reported 100,000 copies sold on the first day. Treat it as a dated sales milestone, not a current live counter.
Official update timeline
This tracker summarizes official Steam posts and separates dated facts from promises that still need a follow-up announcement.
July 23, 2026 — August 6 release date
The major announcement confirmed that ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs releases August 6, 2026. It also pointed to a new trailer and said players had spent substantial time in the playtest and demo. The post celebrated 600,000 wishlists and more than 1,000 demo reviews.
Player impact: the game is now available on Steam for Windows and macOS. The announcement said another post would explain the full-release price, average playtime and release world map.
Still unconfirmed: the store later listed a $19.99 base price with a 10% launch discount; that offer has ended as of the August 23 recheck, and $17.99 is history. Average playtime and the release world map are still not published. Save transfer also remains open.
June 22, 2026 — 500,000 wishlists and Next Fest milestone
The team reported 500,000 wishlists, a place in Steam’s top 100 most-wishlisted games, and inclusion among Steam Next Fest’s 50 most-played demos. The same dated post reported 96% positive demo reviews and highlighted community gadget designs.
Player impact: this is evidence of pre-release interest and a heavily used demo, not evidence of the final game’s quality, sales or current review percentage. Store percentages and ranks are dynamic, so quote them only with the June 22 date.
June 16, 2026 — the expanded demo launches
The official update says the new demo is live. It covers nostalgic device repair, shop operation, customers and branching stories, and introduces broader customization. Players can buy an airbrush and color palettes through the in-game computer to paint devices. The post also mentions customer tips, new or expanded repair content, and changes based on playtest feedback, including feel and bug fixes.
Player impact: the demo is the best official way to test the repair loop, text readability and PC performance. Older playtest footage can miss the customization and later feedback-driven changes.
Still unconfirmed: the post does not confirm that demo saves transfer into the release build.
May 22, 2026 — gameplay trailer and customization preview
The gameplay trailer post previewed new devices—including the Pokia N-Joy, Patento BS and Palaloid— and the airbrush painting system. It was written while the new demo was still in preparation.
Player impact: the June 16 update subsequently delivered the painting feature in the demo, so use the newer post for availability. Device names are intentionally fictionalized or licensed in the game and should not be treated as real repair instructions.
